Gifted Quilts, part 1

A week or so ago we went to visit my in-laws, who live near Sudbury, in Northern Ontario. It was the first time all six of us went together and also the first time I had been in 3 years. I decided some quilts for gifts were in order!

The quilt I'm showing you today was for my father-in-law. My husbands mom has recently been moved to a nursing home, so they each got their own quilt. His quilt is very similar to this quilt that I made a couple of years ago. I had all of the blocks sitting around for about 3 years and finally got around to piecing them together.

A friend of mine recently bought a long arm quilting machine and this was quilted on her longarm using a pantograph. I'm not sure I could ever go back to pin basting again :)

Here are the pictures! My husband was a good sport and helped me take pictures at the French River on our way up North. We were both a little embarrassed, but I kinda love the pictures we got!

A close up of the quilting.

And the backing, a thrifted sheet.

Thanks for stopping by!
